Ash was kind enough to fit us in his busy schedule and we met up with him at Newcastle's City Hall last Sunday where he was preparing for a gig with Del Amitri. As well as Del Amitri, Ash has played for many well known artists such as Celine Dion, Cher, The Wanted, Birdy, Mark Owen, Nelly Furtado, Ronan Keaton, Spector, Seal, James Morrison, Adele, Robbie Williams, Enrique Iglesias, Will Young and many, many more (I could go on forever! You can check them all out here.)
The reason for our catch up was to ask Ash a few questions about his endorsement with Sakae drums and see what he's up to after the Del Amitri tour. We spent the afternoon at the Newcastle City Hall with Ash, and even managed to listen to the band sound check which was pretty exciting! (Check out the photos below!)
We've put together two video's of the day which are available to view below. The first video is of Ash playing during sound check and the second is an interview/chat where we ask Ash to talk us through his drum kit and cymbals and also ask why he thinks people should buy Sakae! If you want to hear his answers there's only one thing to do!
As you will have heard in the interview above, Ash is currently endorsed by Japanese drum makers, Sakae Rhythm. Ash also plays Zildjian cymbals and gives us a sneak peak at the brand new Zildjian Kerope cymbal which has just been at NAMM 2014 and will soon be available from drumshop UK!
Ash is extremely busy over the next few months and begins filming the live shows for The Voice UK mid March! You might of spotted him on the Saturday shows playing in the house band? Will.i.am even had a go of Ash's Sakae drum kit!
