As most of you probably know, Last Wednesday night, Jojo Mayer held a drum clinic at Newcastle College’s Space Bar which was a huge success. The clinic began with George Hutton warming up and showing off his skills, which was an impressive start to an impressive night!
Jojo took the stage at around half past 8, doing what he does best! After his first 3 tracks, he stopped to answer any questions, which was a great opportunity to get to know more about Jojo himself as well as his drumming.
There were some great questions asked by the audience and I’ve posted some of the Q&A’s below for those of you who couldn’t make it.
One of the Jojo’s fans was curious to why he often switches his drumsticks round and plays with the fat end…
Jojo explained that he does this to achieve a fatter sound.
Someone else asked Jojo why he plays Sonor drums…
Jojo said he has used different brands in the past but stuck with Sonor as he believes that the 'German engineered’ drums are the best!
