In preparation for Chris Johnson coming to DSUK on Thursday 20th June, we’ve just taken delivery of the Yamaha Oak Custom drum kit ready for him to do his masterclass (a free and therefore 100% unmissable event).
I was lucky enough to be able to unbox it, set it up and tune it this morning and it was an absolute joy to do! It looks fantastic. The silver sparkle finish is really outstanding and the build quality feels incredible. Everything feels solid, sturdy and like it would last through anything.
Tuning the kit was really easy too. It didn’t take much effort to get it sounding good, all I needed to do was finger tighten the lugs, and then give each of them a small turn and it was done. I have always been impressed by the sound of Yamaha drum kits, even from the stage customs I’ve played in the past, through to the higher end Recording customs, there is a consistency of quality which is unmatched by many companies (but not all of course!).
