Have you been playing the same cymbals for years and always stuck with the same brand? Well now it’s time to break out of that routine and make the switch to Istanbul Mehmet cymbals! You’ll find yourself thinking “Why didn’t I switch sooner?!”
Istanbul Mehmet Cymbals are offering a cool new programme called 'Make the Switch’. Basically, it means what it says! You give us your old cymbals, whether they’re Paiste, Sabian, Istanbul, Zildjian or any other brand doesn’t matter, we’ll switch you for a brand new Istanbul Mehmet. This could mean a straight swap or a part-exchange.
So yeah, it’s pretty much as simple as that!
We’ve had a lot of interest in these original Turkish cymbals and even more so now the 'Make the Switch’ programme has been launched. Many people have joined the movement and added the Mehmet’s to their set-up and we’re proud to say we recieve positive feedback about these popular cymbals everyday.
As with anything, people are cautious and want to try before they buy, so we make sure we always have a wide variety of Istanbul cymbals in stock, so you can do just that!
The owner of Istanbul cymbals, Mehmet Tamdeger began his journey into cymbal making as a boy of just 9 years old. He started out by working for the Grandson of Kerope Zilcan, whom the well known Zildjian K Series was named after. Mehmet’s knowledge expanded from here, learning about all the ancient Turkish art of cymbal making from both Mikael Zilcan and Kirkor Kuckyan.
Istanbul cymbals was formed by Mehmet Tamdeger and Agop Tomurcuk, named after the the city that has been producing high quality cymbals for many, many years. The Istanbul company soared and became a leading cymbal brand. After Agop Tomurcuk’s unexpected death in July 1996, Mehmet decided to continue the production of cymbals under his own name, Istanbul Mehmet. Still to this day, each and every Mehmet cymbal is handmade to perfection by dedicated cymbal smiths in Istanbul.
