Mapex have introduced some interesting new features to their drum kits and have a brand new Saturn series and a Black Panther drum kit available from 2013!
There are some new members of the Mapex Saturn family with a new Mapex Saturn MH series and a Mapex Saturn Exotic series. The Mapex Saturn Generation 4 Saturn MH Series features Maple Hybrid shells with 4 plys of maple and 2 inner plys of walnut giving a lovely big sound typical of Mapex. The suspension systems on these Saturn drum kits have been redesigned so they sit under the tension rod under the lug meaning you’re able to change your drum heads easily without needing to remove the suspension system. The low mass system means you see more of the shell and less metal. The Saturn drums now feature Black Panther lugs, new style bass drum claws and newly designed memory lock bass drum spurs with markers for easy adjusting.
The Saturn MH drum kits have chrome hardware and are available in 6 different finishes, 2 wraps and 4 lacquers.
The Saturn Exotic series, comes in 6 different finish gloss lacquerers with highly figured burl finishes on the outer ply. These will be available in the UK from March in Fusion (22×18,10×8,12×9,14×14) or Short Stack (22×20,10×7,12×8). Snare drums will also available in UK in a 14” x 5” and a 20” Fusion will be coming soon too!
And not to forget the brand new Mapex badge, featuring on the drum kits named above.
The Black Widow, the third drum kit of the Black Panther range will be available in the UK from April.
The Black Widow is based on the Mapex Black Widow snare drum and only a limited amount will be made. With the same suspension system as the Saturn mentioned above and memory lock bass drum spurs. The Black Widow drum kit only has one finish with it’s maple shells and includes a snare drum.
The floor tom legs on these drum kits have a newly designed rubber foot which has a hollow section through the middle meaning it’s suspended off the ground. This new feature means you get more resonants out of your drum.
