Busy day like back in the day.
Today has been a great day with lots of sales being achieved. The day started with a guy waiting outside the shop at 8.45am this is always a good start and you realise that once you open the doors it not going to stop being crazy busy.
When I first started playing drums I would hang out at Ronnie’s drum store in Byker many years ago and it was always buzzing with drummers coming into the shop and talking drums. With today’s new generation being brought up with the internet and buying on-line a lot of this has been lost but today was just like back in the day, which was nice.
Over the years we see the footfall of customers falling coming into shops but here at Drum Shop UK we are bucking the trend and people are wanting to try the goods and hang out. The new shop has especially seen a lot more footfall in the last 12 months with drum events, regular Starbucks coffee days, beers and pizza nights and not forgetting the largest selection of top end drum kits which you could only find in places such as the USA. I guess today has been the result of a lot of hard work and dedication of all the staff today alone we sold 6 drum kits which is not bad at all for a September Saturday.
Mapex Meridian Birch drum kits, Premier Vintage, Gretsch Catalina, Shine drum kits and one of the new Rock & Whiskey drum kits, the Mapex Meridian Birch drum kit has been on twitter by a twitter’r stating Can’t quite believe the price @drumshop is selling the Mapex meridian birch kit, but who am I to complain! so it nice to see independent people tweeting about your shop in a positive way, it makes me proud. The Mapex drums genuinely make me have to look at the price twice (I know this sounds like sale pitch) as you get so much for your pound. The drums are great, the hardware is fantastic and the service from Korg who are the distributors is great, it has to be one of the best 'value for money’ kits around today.
We also sold a Vintage Premier drum kit which needs to be cleaned and new heads fitted, the quality of the drum kit is fantastic being over 40 years old, the chrome working is the best and cleans up like a dream, someone has got a nice bargain today which will only go up in value.
Gretsch Catalina Club Rock also flew out the door today, this kit is one of my favorite’s with 24” bass drum , 13” rack tom with 16” and 18” floor toms, a monster kit with thunderous sound. A few of the Shine drum kits also went out today at great prices with over 50% off.
The highlight of today’s sales has to be the 'Rock and Whiskey’ AKA Raw drums totally custom boutique drum kit the customer has gone for a solid matt black kit with Candy Turquoise sparkle fittings 22 × 20 solid Block bass drum with 12” rack tom and a 16” floor tom, the toms have been flown in from the US and the bass drum is hand made in the UK. This drum kit is truly one of a kind. The customer has also gone for the new Brass Snare drums, this is very much like the old Ludwig black beauty snare drums but in a cool 13” x 7” size. Lots of bands are now starting to make the switch to Raw drums as they are looking for something totally different, one of the artist Jack Usher is playing with his Raw drum kit tomorrow at The Split Festival in Sunderland of which I will be attending, check out his band
The King Blues. Raw drums are truly a boutique custom drum kit, we are still waiting for more raw drums to arrive in the UK so keep checking back and check out
Raw drums.
So all in all a great day today and looking forward to tomorrow for The King Blues and
Target for Tomahawks another raw drums artist.
Thanks for reading.
