I WAS going to choose a drum throne to suit my ageing butt and creaking joints.
I WAS going to go for something comfortable, functional and probably a bit boring to be honest.
THEN I SAW THIS...
The best of all worlds is right here in the Pork Pie Big Boy. It looks like it takes design cues in comfort from a seat in a business jet, but some of the materials and colours available could be from the interior of a pimp's car :) but enough waffle, onto the facts.....
I resisted the temptation to go for some of the crazier colour combinations and settled on the black sparkle which for me is just as striking as some of the brighter choices. They have endless options though.
It feels great. The contours of the memory foam filled seat are soft and supportive at the same time so levels of fatigue while playing are minimised. It's as comfortable as it looks.
The base mechanisms are solid and slick. You can adjust easily to get to the height you want without compromise - I'm sure my kick drum is more controlled since I've had my Pork Pie! - and the legs have a slick foldaway. The swivel rotation is nice and solid with a smooth action as you go around the kit. A lesser throne maker might have just been happy to dazzle us with the great colours and materials but these folks have clearly put just as much love and attention into the base hardware so the result works beautifully.
This throne is so rad that even our rhythm guitarist was thinking of ditching the strings just so she could sit on one :)

Thanks very much for review John! We're glad you love the Pork Pie drum thrones as much as we do!
