It's been a busy few weeks here at Drum Shop and if you follow us over on social media you'll have noticed that we have been knee deep in everything Sonor! From snare drums to drum kits we've been dropping lots and lots of new Sonor products from all of the popular Sonor Series such as Sonor Vintage Series, SQ1, AQ1 and AQ2 just to name a few!
As we've been been dropping lots and lots of Sonor gear, we thought what better way to celebrate than to give you drummers a round up of some of our favourite products to land on our website over these last couple of weeks!
If you want to start a drumming journey that even Journey themselves would be jealous of then you know that this is definitely snare a for you. Steve Smith is an American drummer who is best known as a member of the rock band, Journey. Steve has been an endorsee of Sonor for over 30 years and alongside Sonor has created a masterpiece of a snare that has Steve's style written all over it!
Constructed using an exclusive 2.5 mm cast steel shell, 2.5 mm reinforcement rings and two air vents, this snare from the outset was designed to impress. Steve is an avid fan of the features that are encompassed with vintage Sonor drums and with this in mind, vintage style Phonic lugs with integrated TuneSafe are used to create a vintage look. The finish is a stylish, versatile chrome finish which features the Sonor Signature drum badge, Steve’s signature is engraved on a Re-Issue of the "Hilite Exclusive" badge, adding another "Vintage Sonor" touch. Die cast hoops are also added to this snare drum as well as REMO fiberskyn 3 batter head in diplomat thickness add an overall effect of a crisp, full-bodied instrument with an immediate and effortless playing response.
Sonor introduce the AQ1 Series, a series that's fitting for both the beginner and the professional drummer as it offers drums and hardware that are highly effective whilst offering that distinctive Sonor sound. With a 100% birch shell base, this series provides a sound which is loud and cutting, whilst allowing for boosted frequencies and a punchy low end. The newly redesigned AQ1 Series has benefitted from a totally new design both visually and audibly, it's had a new bucket, nameplate design and now includes insulated SmartMount Technology. SmartMount Technology is a welcome addition to this series as it avoids unnecessary drilling holes and metal to shell contact, allowing for better sustain and better visibility on the shell surface. In addition to all that this drum kit features a HS2000 Hardware Set which has all the core pieces of hardware for you to step straight onto the stage!
