For those of you who are Roland obsessed we won't need to tell you that last week marked the Roland #TotallyDrums Global Product Launch Live Stream in which they revealed some super cool new gear to the market, of which was the brand new TD-17 V-Drums Series. The TD-17 Series offers three new electronic drum kits. Available in three configurations, every TD-17 Series electronic kit features a PDX-12 mesh snare pad, a new KD-10 kick drum pad and a TD-17 sound module, these core components mean that whatever your budget you'll be able to feel the benefits of a highly responsive instrument with the very latest in drum technology. Drumming superstar, Anika Nilles performs her latest original composition "Spunky" using the Roland TD-17KVX electronic drum kit in the video below.
All three configurations benefit from the TD-17 drum module and this is really the beating heart of the Roland TD-17 Series. The TD-17 allows for an enhanced and dare we say superior, drumming experience; with 50 ready to play drum kits suitable for any music style you'll certainly be spoilt for choice. The module features a wide range of easy-to-use training functions that encourage skill development and make practice fun and productive. Roland have taken direct inspiration from the top of the line, Roland TD-50 and have integrated Prismatic Sound Modelling into TD-17 which replicates the character and tone of acoustic drums, with lightning-fast response time, wide dynamic range, and natural tonal changes that vary depending on where and how hard the pads are played.
Use your phone for the majority of your compositions? Well don't worry the TD-17 Series can be paired to a smartphone using Bluetooth technology, allowing you to wirelessly stream direct from your kit, another super handy feature for all you guys who are looking for convenience and functionality from your drumming experience.
In addition to the three new TD-17 electronic drum kits that were unveiled in last week's global product launch, Roland also dropped the bombshell of three newly developed pads. A newly developed kick, snare and hi-hat pad have all been introduced into the TD-17 Series and all work in perfect harmony with the Roland TD-17K-L, TD-17KV and TD-17-KVX V-Drums.
The Roland KD-10 V Drums Kick Pad is a tower style bass drum pad which offers increased stability and a great playing feel. The playing surface is so dynamic you'll feel as if you're playing an acoustic drumhead, a lifelike touch which allows for real time dynamics. One huge benefit to this kick pad is how realistic the playability is, both in the hands and underfoot, the fast response and attack gives you ample opportunity to learn expressive foot control and pedal techniques like never before.
The Roland PDX-12 V Drums Snare Pad is a 12" snare pad which is an ideal size that makes for a smooth transition from acoustic drum kit snares. With a dual-ply tuneable mesh head, the PDX-12 snare pad is highly durable and allows for an adjustable tension and a natural feel when it comes to playing. Authentic rim-shots, cross-sticks and buzz rolls literally roll of this pad with little to no effort, all with a realistic edge of sound performance. With realistic playability, this snare pad's smart dual-trigger system picks up sound accurately across the entire expanse of the drum, head to hoop.
The Roland VH-10 V Drums Hi-Hat for V Drum is a stand mount electronic hi-hat that acts and responds like a real life hi-hat cymbal. With mounting hardware included VH-10 will mount to any standard hi-hat stand and offers realistic pumping, slashing and foot action. A textured playing surface reduces acoustic volume, meaning that your practice sessions are quiet and less likely to annoy your neighbours!
