From aspiring 'Young Drummer of the Year' winner to respected professional drummer, Matty Brown is a talent we are more than happy to welcome to Drum Shop and we are beyond excited to tell you he is coming to Drum Shop to pass on his expertise in a drum clinic next month! Love our drum clinics? Then you need to clear your diary and make sure you get yourself penciled in for this one, it's set to be one of our best yet and all because of the very talented Matty Brown!
Matty has drumming in his blood and has been drumming for the vast majority of his life, from an early age his parents recognised his rhythmic talents and encouraged his very obvious talent for rhythm and musicality. Being born into a musical family has its perks and this very much allowed Matty to nurture and grow his talents with the help of his family around him. With deep gospel roots, the church had been Matty's first taste of performance, a place where he could perform week in week out with a real life audience and gain that all important experience and stage presence. At the age of just 13, Matty decided to enter the Mike Dolbear "Young Drummer of the Year" Awards and this may well have been one of his best decisions yet, as he walked away victorious as the winner of the 2013 competition. Fast forward 8 years and Matty has played regional, national and international stages alongside some industry heavyweights, he's played alongside noteable artists such as Stormzy, Soul 2 Soul, Little Mix, Candi Staton and Plan B to name but a few. Only yesterday he was seen playing alongside Camilla Cabello at the Radio 1 Teen Awards 2017 in Wembley, London!
Not only has Matty been seen playing with some serious stars, he is also set to host a masterclass at The London Drum Show 2017 next month, this drummer is seriously hot right now and we can't blame everyone for wanting a piece of him, not only is he a true talent he really is a lovely guy to boot!
Wednesday 29th November will see Matty pass through the doors of Drum Shop and impart his vast and varied drumming knowledge and experience on all the drummers who want to know how and what it takes to be as good as this kid is! Matty is proof that practice makes perfect and perseverance is what it takes to make it in this crazy drumming industry! As Matty himself once said "anything is possible, you just have to keep pushing until you see results" this message is one that is applicable to us all, whether you're a drummer or not this message echoes and it is one that we could all do with reminding ourselves of! You CAN and you WILL, all in good time!
