If there's one thing we can say for sure it's that Craviotto are undisputed masters of innovation, quality and artistry. But for those of you who don't know, there is one man who is largely responsible for the household name that is Craviotto and that drummers is the late, great Johnny Craviotto.
Johnny Craviotto not only gave the world the renowned Craviotto Drum Company, he was a respected drummer and teacher in his own right and this gave him the exact insight to know what drummers want, need and yearn for! From drumming as a child, to playing professionally with artists such as Neil Young and Ry Cooder, Johnny had an interest and love for all things drums, the sound, the working and the build. A self professed perfectionist, Johnny worked tirelessly across his professional career to understand everything there was to know about drums and would forever continue on the hunt for the 'perfect' drum kit. Hand rendering and artistry set the Craviotto brand above the rest from early on and they would later be renowned for this quality worldwide, not just in Johnny's hometown of California. From the day Johnny Craviotto turned those hands to drum building and manufacture the brand has gone from strength to strength and have continued to do since Johnny's passing in 2016. The finesse, quality and utter craftsmanship that made the brand so distinctive in the early days is still a quality which is very much alive within the drum kits they produce today and a key reason why drummers the world over keep flocking back to Craviotto!
A fantastic example of the cracking Craviotto artistry is one of the latest acoustic drum kits to land at Drum Shop which is the Craviotto Custom Shop 3-Piece Maple with Maple Inlay Drum Kit.
This 3-piece drum kit in itself just has an air that screams Craviotto, the finesse and the finish are just stellar! This drum kit definitely has a timeless quality to it that is apparent in so many Craviotto drum kits and this allows you to envisage this kit in any atmosphere, any setting and we'd even go as far to say as any time, it's that versatile! A natural satin oil finish has been applied to the single ply, solid maple shell base and the glossy exterior has that allure whilst still retaining the classic qualities wood finish kits are renowned for.
A compact 3 piece drum kit that includes a 22" x 14" bass drum, 13" x 9" tom and 16" x 16" floor tom, each shell has 45 degree bearing edges, which are admittedly the most common type of bearing edge and there are several reasons why this edge type is so popular. 45 degree bearing edges can generate enhanced attack and sustain and can give your sound an altogether more contemporary edge. Another key feature of this kit is the Diamond Tube Lugs, a signature design created by Johnny Craviotto himself, again a feature chosen for it's impeccable aesthetic qualities as well as the level of quality it adds. Every component no matter how small or how significant has been carefully considered and executed and that's what makes Craviotto such a luxurious drum manufacturer!
