We think the Mapex Tornado Drum Kit is one of the best entry-level acoustic drum kits on the market, and the best thing is it comes with everything you need to get started with drumming!! The Tornado kit comes in 3 different configurations: Compact, Fusion, and Rock. All this means is there are essentially 3 different sizes of bass drums:
The Mapex Tornado Compact set up, is really just how is sounds, compact. this set up is designed more towards children and younger drummers because of its smaller 18” bass drum, 10” and 12” toms, 14” floor tom and 14” snare drum. Of course, it can also be the perfect set up for a drummer in a small space, like a small bedroom. This set up also comes with a smaller height snare drum and drum throne . Sound-wise, the 18" bass drum will give you more of a jazz style sound which can be easily tuned tighter to sound great for pop drumming.
The Mapex Tornado Fusion is ideal for the younger drummer as the set-up tends to be smaller, with a 20” bass drum, 10” and 12” Toms, 14” Floor tom and a 14” snare drum. The fusion is also a great choice for setting up in a more restricted space like a bedroom but with a larger bass drum than the compact kit, you are ready to play both Jazz and Pop music on your new set!
The Mapex Rock set up is a perfect set-up for budding rock drummers. With a bigger 22" bass drum and even bigger sound! The rock set up also consists of 10” and 12” Toms, 16” Floor tom and a 14” snare drum.
Each Tornado drum kit comes in 3 finishes: Black, Dark Burgundy and Royal Blue, as well as all the necessary hardware (hi-hat stand, snare drum stand, boom cymbal stand, bass drum pedal, drum throne) and cymbals (a pair of 14" Hi Hats, and an 18" Crash Cymbal)
