The Foo Fighters, forming in 1994, are currently on their tenth tour named the Everything or Nothing at All Tour, in support of But Here We Are, their eleventh studio album. The album is the first release since the tragic loss of their beloved drummer, Taylor Hawkins, who passed in early 2022. In a remarkable display of dedication, frontman Dave Grohl took on the responsibility of performing and recording all the drum tracks for the entire album in Hawkins' absence.

You’re probably thinking, “but how can Grohl play the drums and guitar and sing while they’re live?” Enter Josh Freese, the Foo Fighters’ new full-time drummer. You may know Freese from bands such as Devo and The Vandals, and formerly of Guns N’ Roses, The Damning Well, and Black Light Burns. Freese has been in the music industry for almost four decades and has contributed to almost 500 records. Some of the notable artists he has worked with include Sting, Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle, Queens of the Stone Age, Chris Cornell, Weezer, Katy Perry, The Offspring, Miley Cyrus, Ween, The Replacements, Suicidal Tendencies, and many others. This tour is the first since Freese has joined the Foo’s.

Like Grohl, Freese is a DW artist. From 2023 while on the road, he’s been using a DW Collectors Series in Rose Copper.

Unfortunately, this finish is no longer available. However, we are very pleased to say that we do have it at DRUMSHOP! Not in the exact set-up as Freese, but we do have a 4-piece Shell Pack in the same Rose Copper finish.

Crafted from maple, a popular hardwood known for its excellent resonance, projection, and attack. The use of reinforcement hoops and plies with different grain orientations lowers the fundamental pitch and enhances the resonance, creating a focused sound ideal for live and studio settings. Handcrafted in Oxnard, California, each drum set is made with top-quality materials, legendary craftsmanship, and meticulous hand-applied finishes, resulting in visually stunning drums that sound as good as they look. The shells are made using Specialised Shell Configuration (SSC), where DW uses layers of plies that are cut to different grain orientations - horizontal, vertical, and diagonal (X-shell) - in order to reduce the fundamental pitch of the shells, enhance resonance, and create a fully optimized instrument.

Though our kit doesn’t have two bass drums or two floor toms like Freese’s, it does have a 10” x 8” and 12” x 9” rack tom, 16” x 16” floor tom, and 22” x 18” bass drum.
