We had the absolute honour to spend the morning with Mr. Gavin Harrison. He dropped into the shop to hang with us before his evening performance with his band "The Pineapple Thief" at the O2 Newcastle. Yes! he had a rattle on one of our Sonor display kits and yes! We were blown away by his complete mastery.
Gavin loves Sonor Drums and so do we! Keep an eye out as we have some Awesome Sonor kits due to land soon.....
Influenced by his father's jazz collection and by drummers such as Steve Gadd and Jeff Porcaro, Gavin Harrison began to work professionally in 1979 and was touring by 1983-84, as a member of Renaissance! Everyone starts somewhere, and Gavin started as a freelance session drummer on records and tours for artists like Incognito, Iggy Pop, Lisa Stansfield, Lewis Taylor, Artful Dodger, and so so many more! After joining Porcupine Tree in 2002, beginning a collaboration with 05Ric in 2007 , joining King Crimson as a part of a dual-drummer line-up in 2008, being a features performer on the "Late Show with David Letterman" in 2011, playing live in formation of King Crimson in 2014, Gavin is now a full band member of "The Pineapple Theif"!
Check out his playing for yourself on The Pineapple Thief’s “Dissolution” Also check out his solo album “Cheating The Polygraph” which also features the bass playing of another U.K. legend - Laurence Cottle. Gavin loves Sonor Drums and so do we! Keep an eye out as we have some Awesome Sonor kits due to land soon.....
