Its that time again when drum shop receives Ludwig Drums which have been on special order from the drum giants in the USA, excitement is always booming when we get a delivery from Ludwig which can take up to 3 - 4 months for special orders.
So today was an exciting day with the sale of a stunning 22 12 16 in silver sparkle and another customer buying a 14 x 5 USA Ludwig Maple snare drum which was slightly pimped with different drumheads and a Puresound snare wire, why? OK we are always ones for trying different things and to be honest the snare drum sounded even better after we had finished tuning and replacing drum heads and replacing the Ludwig snare drum wire with the Puresound snare drum wire. We always recommend trying different heads and keeping the original manufactures drum head as when you come to replace the drum or wish to sell it then you have all the original parts which helps with resale value.
So today we also received a stunning Ludwig Teal Sparkle in the wrap tite which is a wrap finish which takes the knocks rather than a wood or lacquer finish. This kit comes the following finish of 20" x 14" Bass Drum with a 12" x 8" rack tom and a 14" x 14" floor tom which is known as the Ludwig Downbeat. The kit is all maple and has 45 degree bearing edges which have been hand sanded by the guys at Ludwig and the shells are also 7 ply cross laminated in 'North American Maple'. The Ludwig downbeat is a classic size and is highly collectable in the vintage scene reassuring you of a good residual value and holding the name of Ludwig and being made in the USA will make any Ludwig drums in the right colour and sizes an investment which not many drum brands hold this esteem.
The second Ludwig Drum kit which arrived today was the classic FAB 22 in the vintage black oyster, the Ringo Starr favourite. The Ludwig FAB 22 size of drums comprise of a 22" x 14" bass drum with 13" x 9" tom tom or rack tom for those who prefer to call it that, finished off with a 16" x 16" floor tom. The kit once again is made from North American Maple and boy does it pack a punch, the drum kit has also the wrap tite which protects from knock of everyday use.
Along with our delivery was a nice snare drums and other Ludwig drum kits which have been ordered for customers and are ready to be shipped out, some as far as the far end of Europe so there will be some happy customers getting their new Ludwig drum kit, there's no better feeling than getting a new drum kit, thats my thoughts anyway ;-)
We also have a booth at the London Drum Show 2016 where we will be showing plenty of Ludwig drum products so remember to pop by and there will be an appearance from artists on the booth also.
Instagram is a wonderful thing, a quick picture taken from Instagram by Paul Luc Gifford showing one of the new kits arrived in the Vintage Black Oyster, you can check our really cool The Beatles table in the background.
