Majestic is a brand that offers meticulously crafted instruments designed for professionals, educators, and contemporary percussion students, drawing inspiration from both the rich heritage of traditional percussion and a spirit of innovation.
The origins of Majestic can be traced back to the family business van der Glas B.V., established in 1921 by Willem Klazes van der Glas, the grandfather of the current owner, Wim van der Glas. The company started in the historic centre of Heerenveen, Netherlands, selling organs, pianos, and wind instruments, with percussion instruments being added shortly after.
In 1960, the 'Majestic' brand was launched for these percussion instruments. During this period, drum sets gained immense popularity, and many rock bands across the Netherlands and beyond embraced Majestic drums.
In 2003, Majestic became part of the KHS group of musical instrument brands, solidifying its role within one of the largest musical instrument manufacturers globally. This significant merger enabled the establishment of comprehensive manufacturing capabilities, allowing for the production of a wide array of modern marching drums and orchestral mallet percussion instruments.
To further enhance its operations, a new entity named "Majestic Holland b.v." was created, accompanied by the construction of a large factory in Nijehaske, close to Heerenveen, dedicated to the continued production of timpani, honoring the rich tradition of Dutch musical instrument craftsmanship.
Since its founding by Willem Klazes van der Glas in 1921, Majestic has upheld a standard of excellence that continues to guide its philosophy. Family members oversee product development, engineering, and production, ensuring that every model meets rigorous standards of craftsmanship and performance.
The innovative designs of instruments such as the Prophonic series Timpani and Prophonic Series Snare drums exemplify the thoughtful design elements integrated into Majestic instruments, while also paying homage to the rich history of these musical tools.
