I have recently been adding the new Pearl Decade drum kits to the drumshop website and although I add drum kit everyday (it it my job, after all!) The Pearl Decade series really caught my eye - especially the limited edition colours! (I'll come back to that!)
The Decade drum kits got their name as they are quite literally 'decade' drum kits! It took 10 years to develop and produce these Pearl drums, and it was worth the wait.
The Pearl Decade drums are made from 6ply, 5.4mm Maple, constructed using Pearls Superior Shell Technology. These thin, yet strong drum shells can produce beautiful highs as well as thundering lows.
The Decade drum kit is full of features you don't tend to see on drums in this price bracket such as the new Pearl Mini Lug, Pearl's OptiLoc Suspension System and Pearl UniLoc tom arms. The newly designed mini lugs have a lightweight structure, meaning there is less weight on the drum shell, resulting in longer resonance. The OptiLoc Suspension System has been built with a triangular design which gives a sturdy, wobble free feel as well as allowing for maximum sustain. The Uni-Loc gearless tom arms are adjusted with a turn of a drum key and feature a smooth action for easy positioning.
So, as you can see, the Pearl Decade drum kits are excelent value for money, and I haven't even mentioned that they come with a Pearl HWP-830 hardware pack yet! A full hardware pack with two cymbal stands, a hi hat stand, snare drum stand, single pedal and tom holders!
Now, back to those finishes...
The Pearl Decade Maple drum kits comes in a choice of many beautiful finishes but Pearl have just released three limited edition sparkle colours which they have called 'Galaxy Flake'. These are Slate Galaxy Flake, Ocean Galaxy Flake and Crimson Galaxy Flake... All of which are stunning (but I think my fave is the Crimson Galaxy.)
