The Collector's Series 4-Piece Shell Pack in Creme Oyster is crafted from a Contemporary Classic shell. The Contemporary Classic Series is a product of a collaboration between DW's John Good and studio legend Russ Kunkel, designed to produce darker tonality inspired by drum sounds of the latter half of the 20th century.
This shell sandwiches five plies Poplar with one interior and exterior ply of Mahogany, paired with one-inch Maple reinforcement hoops. The thinner 7-ply formulation produces more focused tonality with shorter resonance and a wider tuning range. All shells are analysed according to their specific fundamental tone and then combined to form a tonally matched set. They're then finished with the revolutionary wrap FinishPly which bonds to the shell and performs like a ply, while providing beauty with enhanced durability.
The 4-Piece kit also features: DW's patented STM (Suspension Tom Mount) system that allows you to reap the benefits of maximum resonance by letting the toms to vibrate freely while securely holding the drum in place; True Hoops, offering a major advancement to the game by allowing for perfected and consistent tuning, and finally, True Pitch 50 Tension Rods. At fifty threads per inch and made from stainless steel, these tension rods are definitely one of DW's finest upgrades, providing ultra-smooth fine-tuning with less back-out!
