Description
Istanbul Mehmet 22" Black Sea 1623 Ride Cymbal
The Istanbul Black Sea Cymbal Series combines the old traditional methods of cymbal making with Istanbul's new innovative methods to create a set of cymbals with an unmistakably unique look, sound, and feel.
The Black Sea cymbal series from Istanbul Mehmet traces the traditional Turkish art of cymbals all the way back to its origin in 1623 in the Black Sea region in northeastern Anatolia, which is also the birthplace of Mehmet Tamdeğer. 1623 was the year that the production of cymbals began in a suburb of Constantinople, with the official permission of the Sultan. Mehmet Tamdeğer, at just 9 years old, began to learn every detail of the Turkish art that had been passed down from generation to generation. His teachings came from Mikael Zilcan, the grandson of Kerope Zilcan (whom the famous Zildjian K Series was named after). Now in 2021, the Istanbul Mehmet Black Sea 1623 Series Cymbals are Mehmet Tamdeğer's homage to the ancient Turkish cymbal art, as well as a reminder of his personal roots.
The Black Sea cymbals are hand-hammered and made of that classic high-quality B20 bronze metal with a natural finish. Each cymbal in the line has a dark and dry sound with a blackened unique look. Ideal for music where a dark tone and feel is a must...
