The shell was designed by drum manufacturing legend Chris Brady, who introduced the world's first solid wood (hollow tree trunk) modern snare drum, and revolutionised the ply shell and block shell method of construction.

Australian Rose Gum is a very hard wood, much harder than the usual wood used in drum shells like maple or birch.
