The Yamaha Recording Custom Steel snare drums are available in 14" x 5.5" and 14" x 7".
These Yamaha snare drums are a new addition to the popular Metal Series and are packed with top-end features resulting in some of the finest metal drums around! This Recording Custom snare drum features a 1.2mm Steel shell with an outward centre bead which provides you with a more open and crisp sound than previous models. This feature came about after many evaluations from Steve Gadd, as traditionally, the metal centre bead was on the interior of the drum.
This 14" x 5.5" Yamaha snare drum comes fitted with a 20 strand snare drum wire but also included is a Steve Gadd signature 10 strand snare wire, bundled. This is the snare drum wire that Steve prefers to use as it is known to enhance the cutoff of the sound. The Steve Gadd wire is basically a 14 strand wire with the middle four strands removed.
