Decades of Johnny Craviotto's know how as a master drum builder have gone into the construction of this masterpiece as his legacy lives on. Only the highest graded maple boards were used in the steam bending process that produced these perfect shells. Created by hand, the bearing edges and inlays are formed as the craftsman responsible lays his hands on each shell on average around 20,000 times before the final stage. At the end of the process the finish is applied and in the case of this drum, it is the gorgeous customary Craviotto natural oil finish.

When it comes to your Craviotto drum, there is four bearing edges to choose from; 45-Degree, 30-Degree (Vintage), Baseball Bat (Rounded), or Hybrid (Baseball Bat and 45-Degree).

Drum makers nowadays prefer this option as their top choice. It is famous for its sharpness, creating a lively sound with lots of ring, sustain, and harmonics. The drum's edge enables it to produce a distinct and bell-like tone, as it has minimal contact with the drum shell, allowing for unrestricted resonance without any unnecessary muffling.	Referred to as the vintage edge, this feature was commonly found on drums starting from the 1930s. The rounded-over profile of this edge is thicker than the 45 degree bearing edge, offering more wood on the edge. By rounding the outside to match the drum head's shape and cutting the inside edge at a 45-degree angle from the apex, Rocha achieved a perfect balance between tradition and innovation.
